I use generic kernel provided by arch every update. For the most part,
acpi works. But since, the Satellite A65 contains a Phoenix BIOS and
not a "authentic" Toshiba BIOS, I can't use the toshiba-acpi. On the
Toshiba-acpi page, they said reverse engineering will have to be done
to the module to get it to work with the phoenix bios or toshiba will
have to release the specific chipset info so a module can be made.
Many are lobbying for this module, but I figured may someone on this
list is having similar problems. I'd like to have things like
powersave mode where the screen dims and the cpu throttles back a
little kind of the like the acpi stuff for xp. It's just I know that I
won't have more than 1 hour to work on it unless I can hiberate etc.
Atleast, I know now I can get the battery monitor for GNOME. I had to
look the info the ghetto way by cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/state
everytime. Anyways, see if you guys can dig something out.

The Gentoo wiki has a good article about troubleshooting ACPI and
modifying the kernel. I really haven't read it, but it seems
interesting.

I just feel someone needs create a acpi module because not a lot of
people have librettos as everyone is buying satellites. Thanks.

Vivek
