Yes, exactly.  When I start the Arch scim as in the newsletter, scim
runs--if I just however, do scim -d it dies, unable to open the module.

Also, when I did it manually, I didn't use the GTK_IM and QT_IM lines.  
I simply did XMODIFIERS='@im=SCIM" LC_CTYPE=jaJP.eucjp (and a second
script for utf8) and call any application, e.g firefox, openoffice, vi,
etc.

need kinput2 and canna.  :)
