The above paragraph reminded me about the simplicity ArchLinux "provides" in 
the DAEMONS array, the "@daemon" syntax to be more precise.

Maybe we could have the same for the interfaces.
Something like:
INTERFACES=(@wlan0 @eth0)
will load the interfaces in the background - while not returning an error or 
stalling (a-la DHCP) if an interface cannot be brought up.

This remembers me of the new network/wireless everybody was talking about some 
time ago. Maybe this @-ideea could somehow help, at least with the syntax if 
not with the behaviour.

While we are at this, could someone point me out to the conclusions of that 
discussion, if there were any? Lots of thanks.
