It is.. and as far as free alternatives go, smf is quite nice imo. Personal 
opinion is i like it better than phpbb. Though i know phpbb much better.

ubuntuforums.org uses vBulletin actually. Just a working example to take a 
peek at.

Dibble's pkgbuild idea sounds good and rather painless. As far as upgrading 
and patching goes.
