According to http://www.coyotegulch.com/reviews/gcc4/index.html, GCC 4.0 produces more inefficient code than 3.4 in general. The nifty rendering effects Cairo brings us should eat some resources too. That being said, I also think that GNOME 2.12 feels faster than 2.10. -- .-.
