boots, but no modules load. I added "dbus" and "hal" to the modules
section of rc.conf (sort of blindly). lsmod returns exactly nothing.

(isapnpmap). hmmm.
any ideas?
If you have the LILO bootloader and you upgraded your kernel you should
run "lilo" to update the boot sector.
