Did you completely remove (if it's there) ~/.sversionrc 
(Or something similiar, I'm writing in FreeBSD and it handles it a bit
differently.)

I do remember an issue like this some time ago, and I'm afraid I've
forgotten the fix (if there was one.)

However, I believe it did have to do with something similar, permissions
on $HOME/openoffice files.


I ~might~ have fixed it by, once openoffice was installed, removing all
the OO dotfiles from $HOME and running, as the user the openoffice
setup.

Hope this helps, but it was so long ago, my memory is hazy on it.
