The only category that really doesn't match it's name is a/ (which stands for base) The main reason for that is the next one (ap/ for applications) has a proper proper abbreviation, but the base system has to be installed first. I mean Pat could have named it b (for base) and move ap to cap (console apps), but a and ap work just as well... it follows the same reasoning for why under a/ the basic libs and FS info packages start with aaa_... To be sure it's installed first. the rest of the categories are not too hard to figure out: ap - Applications d - development e - emacs (so bloated it needs its own category :P) f - FAQs and documentation k - kernel packages kde - duh kdei - kde i18n l - libs n - network packages t - TeX typesetting stuff x - X :P xap - X applications y - games... Ok, there's 2 for which the abbreviation doesn't match... but games are pushed towards the end for a reason :P -- Martin Lefebvre eMail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] WWW: https://sigterm.homeunix.com Registered Linux #349269 -----BEGIN GEEK CODE BLOCK----- Version: 3.12 GAT dpu s:-- a- C+++ UL++++ P-- L++++ E--- W+++ N++ o-- K- w--- O- M-- V-- PS PE Y PGP-- t+++ 5- X R- tv++ b+ DI-- D+ G-- e h++ r++ y** ------END GEEK CODE BLOCK------ _______________________________________________ arch mailing list [email protected] http://www.archlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/arch
