About the hard drive hda, hdb, hdc the issue is how the ide cables are plugged in. If I have my cd drives plugged into the main ide port thing they'd be hda, and hdb.

Good call.  I've never had a problem (or heard one reported) so I didn't
think we had to bother with the device map file.  I'll add this as a bug
report and see to it when I can.
