Ok, sure. I have read these docs.

At step 10:

"From the Device drop-down list, click hp:/usb/[printer name, serial number].
 For example, "hp:/usb/hp_deskjet_5600?serial=MY31R1K02179"

I don't have this. I have:

"hp: no device found"

along with the usual PP, usb, serial etc options.

but when I add the printer as regular old PP printer it is found, and as I 
said, sits there saying "idle, waiting for connections"

So why can't HP software find their own printer?
