The point for them is to make it a ./configure option, which is flexible
for distros like gentoo and FreeBSD. For the package maintainer, it's a
choice to be made for all users. That's why I'm asking :)

Would be nice if it could be a runtime check if e-d-s is enabled by
preference and load the clock if enabled.
