Nvidia downgrade did not help in my case. I downgraded to the one which was a few months old - form the time when everything was stable and it froze. today I disabled ndiswrapper (removed wlan from rc.conf, no ndiswrapper module loaded) and connected the PC with cable - it hang after 2-3 hours. So it's not ndiswrapper. I'm really stuck now. I'll try to get a crash dump if possible - I'm getting closer to having kdump working. I'll be back on Monday - in the meantime leave the PC running on level 3 to see if it happens without X.
