Hi Lukas,

I'm having the same problem.
K3b is only a front end to other utilities.

If you try growisofs (or mkisofs) directly you'll get something like this:

growisofs -dvd-compat -Z /dev/dvd=/Dvd/dvd.iso -dvd-video
Executing 'builtin_dd if=/Dvd/dvd.iso of=/dev/dvd obs=32k seek=0'
:-( failed to create thread: Resource temporarily unavailable

Even sending directly the .iso to the DVD I got:

dd if=/Dvd/dvd.iso of=/dev/dvd obs=32k seek=0
dd: abrindo `/dev/dvd': Sistema de arquivos somente para leitura

(the last line is localised and could translate to something like this):

dd: opening `/dev/dvd': Read only file system

Examining /dev/dvd, that is a symlink to /dev/hdc (the *real* device), in my machine, I could see I have writing permission in both of them:

ls -l /dev/dvd lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 2006-01-24 18:39 /dev/dvd -> hdc ls -l /dev/hdc brw-rw---- 1 root optical 22, 0 2006-01-24 18:39 /dev/hdc

as I *am* included in the group "optical".
I even tried the commands above as root, with the same results.

I've double checked udev rules, and they make sense with the permission above.

So I turned to /etc/fstab, and found the line below:

/dev/dvd /mnt/dvd iso9660 rw,user,noauto,unhide 0 0

that I even tried to change to:

/dev/dvd /mnt/dvd iso9660 rw,user,noauto,unhide 0 0

The strange is everything worked fine some days (and some updates) ago.
Initially I've suspected of udev (that have been updated recently), but the permissions seems fine to me.

I really don't know what's going wrong.
