hi all,

i just discovered, that xsane is able to save images directly to PDF.

this is in fact a nice feature, but it has a huge downside it seems...

it does not compress any images and therefore produces huge size pdf's
(e.g. 2.4 MB @ 200dpi 8bit grey A4) to compared compressed version i
do by hand (260kb @ same conditions) from the same picture scanned
under same conditions and saved as png first.

is there no way to make xsane compress (lossy - but small files)
images in the pdf file it generates? anybody knows something about
this? if not i will ask xsane devs directly,

thanx in advance for any input,

greetings,
Damir
