I think it's worth mentioning that even if you answer Y to 
replace/conflict questions like those above, pacman will not actually do 
anything unless you also answer Y to the final "Proceed with upgrade?" 
question that comes after the list of packages to be upgraded is 
displayed i.e.

Targets: <package> <package> <package> <package> <package> ....

Total Package Size:   1000 TB

Proceed with upgrade? [Y/n]

Answering no here stops the whole process - nothing is replaced, 
removed, or upgraded.
