Hmm, after all lprng _is_ deprecated. I tried to install it and make it 
work but I had no success because of various dependencies. And 
ghostscript is not really that old, only ghostscript-lprng so... I ended 
up giving up on lprng and installing cups. After all the only reason I 
tried lprng is that I consider it more lightweight.

If there is no intention to maintain it perhaps it would be better to 
remove it from the repositories?
