I have to agree here, that combined with a hint that you have to add it in 
post_upgrade() should do
the job.

Complicating the init process won't help anyone, that's right. The #1 reason I 
like arch is, that I
could understand what is going on "under-the-hood" very quickly, knowing 
exactly what my distro and
my computer do is very important for me (and hopefully, not only for me).
