Speaking of "legality", many kernel developers claim that loading *any* non-GPL (as in: driver with a license that is not GPL-compatible) driver into the Linux kernel would violate the GPL. That would mean that nvidia, ati, madwifi(??), proprietary nforce drivers and many others would be locked out. And there *are* efforts from many developers to ensure that non-GPL drivers are locked out in the future (as you can see from this example, or the fact that some 2.6.1X prerelease did not work with nvidia anymore, until Linus reversed some changed that prevented non-GPL PCI drivers from working). _______________________________________________ arch mailing list [email protected] http://www.archlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/arch
