Hey everyone im trying to get gensplash to work on my archlinux box , so i went and read all this doc http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Gensplash , so i patched my kernel with abs using the patch from http://dev.gentoo.org/~spock/projects/gensplash/current/fbsplash-0.9.2-r5-2.6.16.patch , then installed the splash utils , maked the initramfs (noticed after i rebooted it was not initrd) modified the boot menu.lst , and rebooted.

finally as u may all imagine kernel panic !! i need initrd and not initramfs , so i was woundering if there is a way to make my initrd including the gensplash stuff so all my work of this morning wont be unused.

I looked down for info on this subject , but wasnt able to find something usefull.

Do i need to use the archck for me to use gensplash ?

thanx and any help appreciated , sorry im just a newbie on linux :D

p.s. sorry for my english xD
