The problem may be that mrxvt does NOT support Unicode.  
(I wish he'd fix that, I really prefer it as a terminal, but the
developer has commented that he's been busy. I'm sure he'd accept a
patch.  C'mon programmers.  :)  )



So, that might be the problem. 

Tobias suggests urxvt which does support unicode.
