Hi,

today after a month I upgraded my archbox. Evrething went fine; but videolan.
I got upgraded vlc (0.8.4a-5 -> 0.8.4a-9); it refused to launch claiming for

libpostproc.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

after symlinking to /usr/lib/libpostproc.so.51.9.0 it started.
Everything ok with vmw and mpeg videos, but refuses to play any avi
(actually, I can hear the sound but no video output), saying:

[00000261] ffmpeg decoder debug: codec not found (MPEG-4 Video)
[00000261] main decoder error: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `DX50'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.

In the videolan forum I found some recent post suggesting to check
(vlc --list) if vlc was compiled with support to ffmpeg. It is:

ffmpeg ffmpeg audio/video decoder/encoder (MS)MPEG4,SVQ1,H263,WMV,WMA)
ffmpeg ffmpeg chroma conversion
ffmpeg fmpeg audio/video encoder
ffmpeg ffmpeg demuxer
ffmpeg ffmpeg video filter
ffmpeg ffmpeg deinterlace video filter

Now, ffmpeg works fine (got also today upgraded to 20060507-1); I'm
just looking a movie with ffplay; mplayer also works, and xine too.
Do I miss something or is the new vlc broken?
Keep on doing this wonderful job, archers,
domanov
