It installs in /opt/gcc2 anyway, so no conflicts with the other gcc. You may have to add
/opt/gcc2/lib to your LD_LIBRARY_PATH or symlink the lib to /usr/lib, I'm not sure if I took care of
that.
Thomas, your gcc2 package has done the trick. You were right: all I had to do was make a symlink to the library and I could run the installer in console mode without trouble.
