I'm using 2.6.16 kernel, and was upgrading to 2.6.17-rc5 but I'm not
sure if install process finished correctly due to those to glibc
errors which I get when running pacman, so I haven't run lilo after
setup, so my system still boots 2.6.16 kernel (I see initrd messages
on boot, not initcpio messages).
I've booted with Arch 0.7.2 CD then:
mount /dev/hda3 /mnt
mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/boot
mount -o bind /dev/ /mnt/dev
mount -t proc none /mnt/proc
mount -t sysfs none /mnt/sys
chroot /mnt /usr/bin/pacman.static -Su
(chroot /mnt /bin/bash does not work - I get segfault)
and upgraded all system to latest packages (I use [testing])
I've got special chars garbage on every line before "upgradiing pkgname...done"

I've tried solution proposed by Wael - no result on this sysrem, but
successfully recovered another.

I don't want to bother you too much. I'm just curious... I don't even
have an idea how to recover this system...
