I have no idea what your problem is, but I will tell you another similar
story.
On my father's laptop, I took much time to configure synaptics properly.
The second he starts KDE, all synaptics settings are gone and the cursor
is very slow. icewm on the other hand works fine.
It does similar things with the keyboard, it forces its own settings on
it, changing or even disabling keyboard repeating and keymaps.

IMO, it is very stupid that a DE would force its own settings on things
that have already been configured properly in xorg.conf. Is there a way
to keep KDE away from the keyboard and mouse settings?
