Same problem here. I don't think that it is a hardware problem. I don't think 
that it is problem with the onboard clock, either. I have only small drift:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] mouse]# ntpdate us.pool.ntp.org
 7 Sep 15:53:18 ntpdate[5289]: step time server 141.156.108.23 
offset -2.404669 sec

That represents the drift after a few days.

Btw, I use XFS.
