Sure. You can also keep a copy of a kernel. For example you will find the
latest 2.6.16 serie kernel package here:

  
http://ftp.surfnet.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/archlinux/current/os/i686/kernel26-2.6.16.20-1.pkg.tar.gz

If in troubles, just run `pacman -U kernel26-2.6.16.20-1.pkg.tar.gz`. And
you're done.

Anyway, Archers *must* be prepared to that kind of problem. Arch is a pretty
current distro.
