It all depends what you're looking for. ck is developed with a very specific focus - "to improve system responsiveness with specific emphasis on the desktop", to quote the website. beyond takes ck as its starting point, and adds patches to provide additional functionality and enhancements e.g. suspend2, fbsplash, reiser4, etc. As Woody suggested, do some reading, and run the kernels.
