OK Toni, I did some digging in some books. It looks like you cannot go
directly from your xsltproc file to a pdf. You need to output to an FO
file (book says this is a type of XML, a typesetting language written
in XML), then use a FO processor to output the PDF.

Here is a link to info on installing a free Java-based FO processor, as
well as sample commands to output the FO file and then to convert the
FO file to a PDF.
