1) You need to add your user to the "storage" group so hal knows you have
rights to Device.Volume.

2) This is a little outdated but it might work
( http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HAL ), if it doesnt do the trick on
your
box try to create a custom filter using the output fron lshal.


That too, thought I don't find a lot of info about this on the web.
