My son's external hard drive with a bunch of his music had a media failure. I've been trying to extract as many songs as I can, and have been pretty successful so far, but that's not the topic of this thread.
The drive was in an external enclosure. To have better access I took the drive out of the enclosure and attached as a slave drive. I'm booting with the latest kernel, using the "earlymodules=piix". When I boot, it hangs on device discovery and will not boot. For the moment, I'm booting to my alternate partition, so this isn't slowing me down. However, I thought I should post this to see if anyone else had noticed such and issue, and could confirm whether *not* using the earlymodules work around would help. Or, whether this was an issue that devs wanted to take a look at (and no, you can't have my hard drive for testing ;-) _______________________________________________ arch mailing list [email protected] http://www.archlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/arch
