Hi just to clarify:
hwd != hwdetect
hwd is not used and hwdetect is not used by the default boot sequence for 
hardware detection.
udev does autodetect the devices, which is triggered by the MOD_AUTOLOAD="yes" 
in rc.conf
hwdetect is used on the new installation ISOs to ensure consistent module 
loading during installation process.
