What kind of graphics card do you have? Maybe you could install a binary
driver for your card.

i have 2 questions:

1.) your *reasoning* does not explain "why i do not have any problem
on Widowmaker & Xfce?

2.) what can i do to solve this "No XV for VESA" problem? (i guess,
VIA driver also works with my card)
