hi.
only when i play DVDs, in kaffeine or xine, it always happen that i lost
control of X. i first thought X was frozen, but that did not seem possible
since the video was still playing in the GUI. and other process seemed to
continue to work.

I have been told on #xine: "It is certainly the nvidia binary, go try with nv
driver"
but well the same happened with the nv driver !

then i decided to plug-in an USB trackball. just in case ... (no config done
by me so it controls the same pointer than my mouse)

and at the next "freeze", i was able to control X with that trackball but not
with my mouse or keyboard which seemed frozen or dead.
even after i closed X and restarted it the keyboard and mouse were still dead.
even in console the keyboard did not respond

i had to reboot to regain control of my keyboard!
during the shutdown procedure i saw some character i type in despair just
after [deactivating swap]. why did they finally appears there and at that
moment ?

so i suspected something related to the kernel. my switch to 2.6.19 was too
old. for me, xinelib trigger some bug that froze something related to ps2
interface (remember my keyboard and mouse frozen they are ps2 but not the
trackball)
so i only switch back to the ide hook in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf instead of the
pata one.
and BINGO. it works now.

so what do you think ? may i wrote to the LKML and talk about that problem.
or is it something related only to Arch Linux ?

or is it related to something else ?

p.s. mplayer seems not to cause the problem but i have not tested it very
well.
