Not to mention fun with its init scripts. How did this conversation get started anyways?
First, someone e-mailed in with a new subject line on From Arch to Ubuntu. Thats probably how the topic came about. Then someone else complained about difficulties installing Ubuntu, so I replied to them about the simplicity of the EasyUbuntu script. They agreed that each is good for its own purpose, and the discussion was over. Then you came in, complained about something that had not even been discussed, and then asked (sarcastically I can only hope) how this conversation got started, thereby increasing the chances of this conversation which you imply you dislike but secretly just wanted to voice your opinion on continuing and giving you another chance to voice your opinions about Ubuntu (which are apparently strong). If you don't like Ubuntu, thats fine. This thread was comparing Arch to Ubuntu and was therefor relevant to the Arch mailing list. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't have been started assuming the author had a point to discuss. Discussion involves reasonable examples, logic, etc. Your post, for example, was simply an insult towards Ubuntu -- I can't recreate "once you start downloading packages" to test the error and see if you're correct because, well, I've downloaded many packages on Ubuntu (and many other distributions) and it has had relatively few problems, none of which I couldn't work around easily. Nevertheless, I'm not here to convince you to use Ubuntu. I don't care what distribution you use. I just don't see the point in sarcastic comments that don't add productive steps to the discussion. Yes, you could argue thats what this post is. I see it as providing an education. I can only hope you choose to learn from it. -Preston
