I think there is some misunderstanding here.
The 'users' *are* the backup vendors.
These APIs are intended directly for backup vendors who will integrate once
with the API.
Users wanting to backup or restore will go to the vendors application not
to oVirt.
Well this is whole different story, i could never guess that from the feature
wiki,
obviously when speaking about public api, first thing that pops up is a ovirt
user,
not backup vendor.
So AFAIU the backup process will be triggered/managed from the backup vendor
app.,
in that case i'm perfectly fine with the current design.
Ack, so we'll fix the wiki to explain this better, sorry for the confusion, I
had a feeling we're not talking about the same things here and I do agree that
for an oVirt user rather than vendor it would be a pain in the $%@#.
I changed the 'Summary' on the wiki page from ...
"This feature allows oVirt users to backup and restore VMs using
Independent Software Vendors. New set of APIs will be introduced in
oVirt to facilitate taking full VM backup, as well as full or file level
restore of VMs."
to ...
"This feature provides the ability for ISVs to backup and restore VMs.
New set of APIs will be introduced in oVirt to facilitate taking full VM
backup, as well as full or file level restore of VMs. Backup and Restore
will be REST API driven (and not GUI/User driven)."
Other than that.. i didn't see any other text which will cause the
confusion.
thanx,
deepak
cheers.
