Hi Cindy, Sorry the documentation isn’t clearer on that. I noticed there is a hyperlink in the Arches 3 docs that is supposed to point to something useful on this subject but it just points to the top of the document from where you started.
To answer your question… Because concepts in the RDM are organized in a hierarchy, it is possible to have some concepts that are not intended to be used as actual values associated to business data. For example, you could have a resource of “animals” with an attribute of species.E55. Species in turn is powered by a dropdown list of potential species. Meanwhile, in the RDM, the species authority document organizes concepts by plant, animal, genus, etc., and then species. These concepts that only serve to provide some organizational structure to the concepts that you will actually use are of type “collector”. The concepts that you will actually use are of type “index." Hope that helps… Adam -- Adam Lodge Geospatial Systems Consultant Farallon Geographics On Friday, May 6, 2016 at 7:36 PM, Cindy Mao wrote: > Hi all, > > I see there are two different kinds of ConceptType in the sample authority > files, but I don't really understand when shall I give a "collector", not an > "index".
