Hi Ed, the mappings question is an interesting one.  I'm looking over the 
CIDOC --> LIDO mapping now.  CIDOC is more thorough, so going from that 
ontology to LIDO is, in a way, a metadata simplification process.  Where 
we've been talking about how you could add a new ontology (LIDO, e.g.) to 
Arches, and then create resource models using that ontology, what you've 
pointed out is that maybe there could be an export option that will take a 
CIDOC resource and convert it to LIDO for an end user.

This is technically possible, but would require some extra configuration, 
and I don't think there are plans to include that functionality at this 
time.  The concept is intriguing though. Also, it's very much a 
case-by-case situation, because where the LIDO is based directly on CIDOC, 
other ontologies are not, and would likely have a much more complex 
conversion process.
