Hi guys,
What do you think about having git submodules for apps?

Have advantages, as we can have repo of apps (jaggery apps) , easy to build
jaggery communities..
+1

For an example in the Store project it has the apps in the jaggeryapps folder.
If we have a separate git project for each app (publisher git repo) it would
easy for people to get changes of the particular jaggery app.
Need to think, gitHub will be best for this, We can used Git as $subject, feel
like it is miss used as
'GitHub' is a web-based hosting service for software development projects that
use the Git revision control system.
Git is not application repo.
But having such in git have some prons and cons (As Git is much familiar to us,
we see it as Good option for this $subject, But it is like miss used in one
point, is n't it)
Who said Github isn’t an application repo. Many people use Github for various
purposes. For example Chef uses github to manage their cookbooks-
https://github.com/opscode-cookbooks/ufw.

An example would be - I am having the store jaggery app in the mobile server. I
want to get the latest changes from the generic store.
You can try git external for this jaggery app as you needed.

In git rather than in SVN you can’t refers a folder in a git repo. In ES
situation - the whole carbon server is the git repo. A store builder has no way
of referring store jaggery app (adding it as an external) to his store
implementation.

Right now I have to get a copy of the generic store
Why do you need to copy from generic?, You can try out external since you need
have generic store changes.
Is there any reason for you to, not have git external

Git external doc is found here - http://dcestari.github.io/git-external/. It’s
not possible according to the sources available.

Thanks

and put my features into that. If we have a separate git project for the
generic store app I can do a git pull and auto merge the generic store changes.

WDYT?
