We have already removed QoS management (security, throttling, caching) UI
features from Carbon 4.3.0 version and those aspects will be best served by
Dev Studio as the platform wide tooling provider[1]. In the meantime we
will remove special UI support given for Axis2 AAR hosting too but Axis2
service hosting will be supported as same level as AS JAX-WS/JAX-RS
support.
To make it clear we will not remove Axis2 support from AS instead we remove
some of the special UI wizards as those are not widely use by users.
Additionally with proposed changes we are addressing number of existing
Axis2 hosting limitations, some of them are given below.
- At the moment users can't use Axis2 version other then the one AS
shipped, AS 6.0.0 will eliminate this limitation.
- Related to above point it's not possible to use multiple versions of
Axis2 F/Ws within same AS instance this will also get eliminated.
- AS 6.0.0 will support for WAR packaging in addition to AAR packaging.
In this post[2] I have explained how users can deploy Axis2 services on AS
6.0.0 in detail ( in fact we can do same using AS 5.2.1 with some
configuration changes). I also did a POC on this you can find some samples
from here[3]
