Hi, According to the current implementation in DevS, while de-serializing an ESB config(switching from source view to design view), it will consider the connector name part of configuration (Eg: <twilio_2.3.5.init>) which is "twilio_2.3.5" and search for the relevant connector directory(twilio_2.3.5 -XXX) to get metadata and icons etc. So that above proposed approach will work with DevS since connector archive name(Eg: twilio_2.3.5-connector.zip) comply with the connector name part of configuration(Eg: twilio_2.3.5).
BTW, I think there is a typo in proposed File connector example. File connector archive name should be "file_2.0-connector.zip" not the "File_2.0- connector.zip" And also from the DevS perspective, when we import two connector versions in to the DevS, there will be two tool groups in tool palette to represent two versions of the same connector.
