I think a place to start might be documentation such as an
install and configuration guide (separate guides). Also beefing up the
information on the site to include more information about what the project
does and the roadmap.

I deployed a Getting Started doc to http://maven.apache.org/archiva/
yesterday. I'm sure it needs improvement though. My thoughts on other
docs were:

* Developing Archiva [starting to work on this, though it's mostly
about explaining the concepts so far so it might be more use as an
information page]
* User Guide [screenshots etc]

Eventually I would love to add more reporting features as I love some of the
things that are available on the http://www.mvnregistry.com/search/ site
including the top 25 and can think of lots of other things that would be
useful.

Same here. First step I think is to get a Reports API in place. They
need to be individually ACL'd so some can be private and some can be
public. An abstract TabularReport should make it easier to do a lot of
them and leave room for more complex summarising reports at the same
time.

I was aiming to get to grips with the code a bit more by hitting some
other issues before diving into thinking on the reporting a lot.
Modello + Plexus are both new to me.
