Just as a comment, this is something that would be perfect to
distribute internally as events to a pluggable set of event listener.
I'm sure this information is something people would like to be able to

Can you expand on this concept?
Check out now the notifiers in Continuum work. A similar mechanism based
on general ArchivaEvents might be the best way to go.
