I still don't really understand what you are getting at here, but we have to be able to store configuration outside the database.


The reporting would use the database.

Given the use cases below, I don't see any reason why the reporting couldn't match the configuration model to the fields in the database. But let's cross that bridge when we come to it.

I'll double check the use. At first glance it didn't appear to be working properly before, so I intended to comment it out until it was used.
