I think you might watch the rights of the file.
If you deploy a versioned jar not already deployed, the new file must have the
readonly right.
If you redeploy a versioned jar already deployed and the file has the readonly
right, you must throw an error.
If you redeploy a versioned jar already deployed and the file has the
read-write right, you must overwrite the file.
The change of right file might be first manually, after you can add a page in
archiva to change the right.
Another way to solve the problem is to manage user rights directly in webdav.
Nevertheless, the wagon plugin does not take care of the user rights. I posted
a bug on wagon http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/WAGON-102 but I have no news on
it.
