Recoll sẽ index mọi thứ trong $HOME hoặc thư mục bạn chỉ ra. Kể cả email do thunderbird tạo ra. Bạn tìm kiếm cực kỳ dễ. Ví dụ recoll -q Angie sẽ tìm mọi thứ có chữ Angie. Nếu chỉ muốn xài terminal thôi thì thêm vào -t, ví dụ recoll -q Angie -t Recoll index hơi lâu trong lần đầu tiên; sau đó, bạn có thể thiết lập chạy định kỳ để nó tự động index dữ liệu mới thêm vào. Bạn nên dùng Recoll một lần cho biết.
