We just purchased the OpticBook 3600 Book Scanner without the ADF. We scan mostly bound volumes but very little cut sheets. For only $275 it actually does pretty well. It's flagship feature is scanning tight margins of bound volumes. Even though it exceeds most other scanners for scanning tight margins, it obviously cannot match the quality of our previous now-defunct $15,000 PS-7000. But you get what you pay for.

Our HP ScanJet 8270 scanner just gave up the ghost after one year and we
are investigating what other scanners are being used by other Ariel
libraries. Could you send me the name and model of the scanner you're
using, if you are satisfied with it?

Thanks,
