First, thank you for responding.

Second, I'm finding it difficult to see any log entries for articles
I've sent. In the one log I can access, I see multiple "mail retrieval
completely normal" and an occasional "send process started" -there
appears no further explanation/message regarding sent messages. When I
click on the icon beside the document number in the Delivery Queue, I'm
told to "see log for 20081126113638" and I can't identify a log entry
with that number. I realize that it's for the document I sent on Nov
26, 2008 at 11:36:38, but I don't see an entry in the log for that exact
time and all the messages after that time report on mail retrieval. If
there's a separate log for sent articles, I can't find a way to open it.

I've just requested IS to verify that port 422 is open, having received
assurances that it always would be. However, since our entire IS staff
has turned over, I'm beginning to believe that's the issue. They will
"get back to me..."

Can you think of anything I can check until they do?

I do appreciate your message, and certainly appreciate any suggestions.

Maybe it's a firewall issue? Are the ports open? What does the log say?

==============================

I've been using Ariel 3.4 for what seems a very long time, but my
understanding of its technical aspects is still rudimentary. I am
suddenly getting a "Will Retry Send" message when I try to FTP a
document. Some time ago I suddenly found that I could FTP only to
patrons within our medical system, so for ILL I usually send to myself,
then forward the document to its requesting library. I've checked "My
Computer settings" since a change in the IS Server setting (after IS did
some system work) has previously been the culprit, but it remains at 1.
