Sorry for cross-posting but I wanted to share what worked for us...
After upgrading to Ariel 4.1.1, we could not get the "Send to Patron" process to work. Finally, our IT person figured it out yesterday Here's what we did: We use McAfee Anti-Virus. He went to Virus Control--> access protection properties--> anti-virus standard protection--> prevent mass mailing worms from sending -->Edit (add winariel.exe to processes to exclude.) Also, check to make sure you have the correct Outgoing (SMTP) mail server and Incoming mail server in the Ariel settings.
