We are still using Ariel at UNC-Chapel Hill Health Sciences Library (NOH) to send and receive a few things but are actively planning to discontinue using it within the next month. We use both Odyssey and Article Exchange.

Hello Bill, We at PHU on OCLC are keeping Ariel as long as we can; we also have access to Odyssey and scan to email function on our copier. We still find libraries that only have Ariel, and that's alright by me. I have never had a problem with Ariel. Have a fantastic day! However, there comes a time when we must evaluate that feasibility. Ariel Interlibrary Loan software is the case in point now. We would like to request that members of this list who still rely on Ariel for receipt of ILL articles, or other surrogate documents, please speak up! We are well aware of the diminished user base for Ariel, vs. Odyssey, Article Exchange, or any other means of transmitting electronic documents (like PDF email attachments). Our question, then, is whether, with our own restrictive budgetary guidelines, we have to make special arrangements to support Ariel in a Windows XP environment, after the rest of the institution has migrated to Windows 7? As you know, Microsoft's Windows XP drop-dead date is April, 2014. Continued support for Ariel after that time may not be possible. Should we "pull the plug" sooner? Please respond. Awaiting discussion on this list. Thank you for your participation.
