However, I do wonder if it's in some way environment-related, because the Hudson builds seem pretty stable. It would be interesting to work out what's different between the Hudson build environment and my laptop. One thing that leaps out, of course, is that there's other work running on my laptop, so that's perhaps evidence for timing-related issues causing the problems we're seeing.
